Eid al-Fitr Details

Eid Mubarak!

Alhamdulillah, this Ramadan has been a spiritually uplifting journey, with various programs and services offered throughout the month to bring our community together in worship, learning, and reflection. We are excited to celebrate Eid in our beautifully renovated masjid, a space that reflects our commitment to fostering a stronger and more vibrant congregation.

The new renovations, along with the programs and services offered, were only made possible by the blessings of Allah SWT, your duas, and generous contributions.

We look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with you in a safe and healthy environment, where we can come together in gratitude and unity.

*Please note that due to recent health concerns that have been brought to our attention from various community members, we have decided not to pray at the Teaneck Armory. Below are some answers to some questions we have had from our community. Read more here.

Why are we not praying at the Teaneck Armory?

An audit conducted at the armory showed it is contaminated with high levels of toxic lead. Until evidence is provided contrary to the articles findings, we at Darul Islah do not want to expose our community to any potential harm. It is an unnecessary risk to take as our community has its own facilities to conduct Eid salah safely. The article below, which came out only a few months ago, explains this in detail.

We have been praying there before, what’s the risk? It’s only a few hours?

– There are many health risks associated with lead contamination, and we can never with certainty say it has had no impact on anyone. And this is even being in contact for a short period of time.

There is an email from a Colonel in Trenton saying the Armory is safe. Isn’t the Teaneck Armory fine now?

– The Colonel did not address the lead contamination directly in any way, nor did he provide any evidence that the Teaneck Armory was cleaned and retested showing little to no levels of lead contamination. It was simply a verbal assurance. The EPA is still pushing for the armories to be cleaned.

With all this information at hand, Darul Islah has chosen to prioritize safety before anything else. We pray that everyone has a safe and joyous Eid celebration together with friends and families regardless of where you choose to pray!
